Thanks Card with Distress Oxide Ink Tutorial

Updated: May 29, 2023

One of the new kids on the block at Close To My Heart is the Ranger Distress Oxide inks. I am thrilled that we have them available for you! Oxide inks are a hybrid ink that is a combination of pigment and dye ink. They blend so smoothly, and I love the look of them!

I put together a quick card this evening that really packs a lot of technique into it!

I started with a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of distress watercolor cardstock. I really like that for the background when creating with distress oxide inks because it holds up to any water usage on the paper. I grabbed four different oxides, and from the bottom up, they are Peacock Feathers, Abandoned Coral, Spiced Marmalade, and Mustard Seed. I used the ink blending tool to apply them to the paper. So fast, so easy, and so smooth! When I was done, I flicked my waterbrush on the paper to create those water spots. Isn’t that fun? And it was all really quick!

While the card front was drying, I grabbed one of our new Thin Cuts simply called Thanks. The white background of the die really created a pop on this card, and I just loved the clean black on top of it. That Thin Cuts set is just $9.95, and I would highly recommend it for a fast and easy card! For just that little bit of shine, I added a few clear sparkles and a bow made of silver embellishing thready. My fingers are inky, and I am a very happy girl!
